can you just say lollipop one more time?

We went to Newcastle this weekend which was amazing and so much fun! There was so much to see and do.

Highlights from the trip:

one) I'm engaged! I was proposed to outside of a bar in Newcastle at 4 o' clock in the morning by a British guy down on one knee. Of course, I said yes!

two) FLARES! A 70's themed club where everyone and everything is bright and colorful and interesting, yet slightly disturbing. Everywhere you looked there were discoballs and women dressed in one piece, glittery, bell-bottomed body suits. There were women with fake moustaches and men dancing to Dancing Queen like their life depended on it. It was fantastic and definitely something to remember!

three) Wandering around Newcastle looking for Quayside and somewhere to stay was a highlight. Since the trip was spontaneous, we didn't have a hotel booked and we really had no idea where we were going. Luckily the first night we found a hotel room right in the heart of all of the action. The second night we found an obscure bed and breakfast also right in the center of all of the fun.

four) Alnwick Castle! Even though we were completely exhausted from our trip, Chelsea and I decided to take the train to a neighboring city from Newcastle. We visited Alnwick, which is the second largest castle in the UK and where Harry Potter was filmed..aka Hogwarts! It was gorgeous and definitely worth the trip!

Assignment 11.2

Using technology in the classroom is a great way of capturing and keeping your student's attention if done right. When utilized correctly, students can learn in new and exciting ways which, in turn, makes it easier for the teacher to teach. Technology is also important because that is what our world revolves around these days. Technology is everywhere and everything. Students need to be exposed to technology early because there are skills they need to know and learn in order to survive. That may sound extreme, but now and in the future, you will not be able to obtain a job without basic technological skills.
Technology is also resourceful for teachers. Because of technology, teachers now have access to all types of resources that will help them in the classrom. You can find anything on the internet, including lesson plan ideas and fun activities for students to engage in.
Technology makes learning easier for the student and it makes teaching easier for the teacher.

I thought the class was good. I learned new things; my favorite being the digital storybook. I feel like I could actually use the stuff I learned in instructional technology in the classroom.

Assignment 7.2

I think that digital storytelling is a great resource to use in the classroom. It's super creative and a fun treat for the students. I think this would catch and keep a student's interest on some topics; I think this would especially be great used at the end of a unit to kind of wrap-up the lesson or unit. I don't think it could be used frequently but, I think when it is used it will deliver the message from the unit or lesson in a way that would be memorable to the students in an effective way that is fun for both the students and the teacher.
