Using technology in the classroom is a great way of capturing and keeping your student's attention if done right. When utilized correctly, students can learn in new and exciting ways which, in turn, makes it easier for the teacher to teach. Technology is also important because that is what our world revolves around these days. Technology is everywhere and everything. Students need to be exposed to technology early because there are skills they need to know and learn in order to survive. That may sound extreme, but now and in the future, you will not be able to obtain a job without basic technological skills.
Technology is also resourceful for teachers. Because of technology, teachers now have access to all types of resources that will help them in the classrom. You can find anything on the internet, including lesson plan ideas and fun activities for students to engage in.
Technology makes learning easier for the student and it makes teaching easier for the teacher.
I thought the class was good. I learned new things; my favorite being the digital storybook. I feel like I could actually use the stuff I learned in instructional technology in the classroom.

Assignment 7.2
I think that digital storytelling is a great resource to use in the classroom. It's super creative and a fun treat for the students. I think this would catch and keep a student's interest on some topics; I think this would especially be great used at the end of a unit to kind of wrap-up the lesson or unit. I don't think it could be used frequently but, I think when it is used it will deliver the message from the unit or lesson in a way that would be memorable to the students in an effective way that is fun for both the students and the teacher.

Assignment 3.1
- Discovery Streaming (http://www.unitedstreaming.com)
Discovery Streaming is a primary / subscription site. Surprisingly, the page didn't take a long time to load considering it streams videos. This website is very helpful and is simple to navigate. It has a sidebar on the left that is easy to understand. The graphics are simple and the content is useful with videos on a wide variety of subjects. You can also sort by the grade level you are teaching. I would definitely reccomend this website. It would definitely be a great tool to use for teachers - Online! Citation Styles (http://www.bedfordstmartins.com/online/citex.html)
I think this reference site could be useful to students because it shws you formats and citation styles for everything. This is useful because students always have to document where they got their information from & usually you can't remember how to cite things off of the top of your head. This website is easy to use with the links and simple layout. I would reccomend this to students who have to do a lot of reasearch and papers and citations. - Corbis Images (http://pro.corbis.com/)
This is a great subscription site! This website was definitely one of my favorites and it could definitely be useful. It is easy to use and navigate. All tyou have to do is type in what it is that you are looking for and you get quick results with lots of great, high-quality images. This is a great site for both teachers and students. I would definitely reccomend this site to anyone!

Assignment 2.1
I think that technology is a tool that should be utilized more often in the classroom. Technology is a partof the modern world and future generations need to know how to use technology to benefit themselves and society. These days people communicate through a few keys and a send button. You can easily take back what you "say" with the backspace button and wah-lah life is easier. Technology makes life easier, and it makes teaching and learning easier.
Using technology in the classroom is very important because it can be utilized in a way that makes teaching easier for both the teacher and the students. The curriculum of schools becomes more enjoyable for students when technology is intergrated in to the classroom; I believe that it would help students in several areas. It would capture students' attention, for one. It is more likely that your students will have an easier time paying attention in class and to the subject matter if you spice up the curriculum with the use of technology. For example, when I was in middle school, during our Ancient Civilizations unit in Geography our teacher did an outstanding job of using technology to teach an otherwise boring (to most middle-schoolers) subject. The teacher had 5 or 6 computers set up and had groups of students create civilizations on the computer with an interactive game. We were learning the material while enjoying ourselves and I'm pretty sure it wasn't too hard on her either; I don't think she heard one complaint about how boring the subject was, which was completely new for her!
Even though there isn't technically any proof that using technology enhances student performance, I do think it enhances the learning experience. I don't think that technology can replace interactive learning between the students them selves and with teachers, but technology has come so far that it benefits everyone. Technology enhances learning for all students, including those with disabilities. Now more than ever, there are tools that can be used to help those with disabilities to see better, hear better, feel better. Technology isn't the answer to everything, but it sure is a big help. I think that teachers are usually hesistant about using technology because it is so new. Obviously technology isn't new, but it's new when it comes to education. Many current teachers did not have technology when they were in school, therefore, I think that it is probably difficult to incorporate technology in to the classroom for some teachers because they are not accustomed to it in the classroom from when they were students.
Overall, I think technology is an excellent way to educate students. It does not replace teachers or the interaction between peers in school, but it is certainly a great tool to capture students' attention and expose them to what will be ridiculously big part of their present and future. It's important to expose them to technology early considering our world these days practically revolves around technology.
